stellar goblin, which is a form of fae in the Sea of Stars, so not goblins as you know them.

Teapot Monday, Ascended Goblin

Quote: Please, yes, this one would like another crumpet.Ā  Yes, please, thank you.

Do not challenge the Ladies and Lords of the Seasons; they are even more unforgiving than the dragons, yes.

Why do you wear that hat?Ā  Is your belt’s color important?Ā  Have you ever seen a dragon?

Description: Like most goblins, Teapot is not very big, perhaps a little over a meter (say three foot five inches tall) and thin with wild hair that varies from sky blue to midnight blue, amber eyes that a slitted like a cat’s and pale mint colored skin.Ā  Teapot dresses as best it can, mimicking the cultural norms of the area it finds itself in, but often with glaring mistakes (vest worn backward, skirts over trousers, and such like) at it does not really understand the purpose of clothes.

Teapot is incapable of keeping still, always fidgeting and twisting, but for all of that is amazingly good at vanishing into shadows and behind things to be unseen.Ā  Teapot is insatiably curious about, well, everything, clothes, food, manners, philosophy, flowers, everything.Ā  In pursuit of answering those question, it will ask, explore and prod, seeking those answer.Ā  Treated politely, Teapot can be patient.Ā  Treated poorly . . . well, fae never forget a slight.Ā  Like all goblins, Teapot cannot abide mirrors and seeing its reflection.

Background: Teapot, before it had a name, was just another trouble-making goblin, angry at the world.Ā  Its ascention happened when it encounter a young girl, having a tea party with her dolls, instead of being afraid, she welcomed the goblin and gave it a shawl and a cup of tea (not very good tea, but tea).Ā  Suddenly, it anger as the world just, melted away, and it became,Ā  well, not whole, but more whole.Ā  It now wanted to learn about the world, to find if it had a place within it for a being such as itself.Ā  At the suggestion of the girl, it took the name Teapot Monday, she was very young you see, and set off to see the world now that it no longer hated everything in it (just mirrors).

As most people had never seen a goblin, they just think that Monday is some strange, possibly cursed, being and treat it with respect tinged with caution and, perhaps, a little fear.Ā  There is definitely something otherworldly about Teapot and most people sense that.Ā  Still, it has managed to travel far and meet many people.Ā  But it still does not have an answer to where it belongs.

Presenting this Character: Well, honestly, Teapot is annoying,Ā  But it does not have to be presented in an annoying fashion, it should be amusing, maybe confusing, but never annoying for more than a moment (In other words, if the players are getting annoyed, stop).Ā  Ā Teapot should be used to challenge the character’s assumptions and reveal odd cultural views . . . and get into trouble that it needs to be rescued from.

What can it do?: Teapot is very, very good at hiding, pretty good at getting into places, and has a little bit of combat skill.Ā  But also a fair amount of natural magics, all minor and petty magics, but magics all the same.Ā  Teapot also retains an innate understanding of the fae and how to avoid their magics, but that is more instinctual and it will not explain unless asked and even then, its explanation may be difficult to follow to one who does not know the ways of the fae.

Who might know it and why: If you have seen Teapot, you would probably remember them, as they are so distinctive.

Anyone who is fae-touched would find themselves drawn to Teapot and vice versa.Ā  Anyone afraid of the fae will find it disturbing but not necessarily threatening.

If a character is a natural leader or a committed believer, Teapot might gravitate to them as someone to show them a path forward.

Plot Hooks: Teapot is chasing or being chased by, your choice, a pack of local dog (or cats).Ā  Chaos ensues!

Things have been going missing around the local area, Teapot has been blamed, but it denies responsibility.Ā  If not it, who?

Notes: Really, just a random idea given form.Ā  And the stellar goblins need a playable option.Ā  My friend Bailywolf had played one briefly, sketching out a viable basic framework for them, and I should go back and get them fully written up as a player option.
