Potions are drugs and if you used them in pro sport you’d probably be a cheat and fined.

Do good people do potions?

Various expansions for The Lost City had some cool side fx for Cyndacean potions, which are awesome. You could use this table for cheap potions or enemy potions. Some side effects are species-specific so goblins might carry potions hostile to humans or elves.

d12Ā Potion Side FX

1 Addictive – save after 2nd use or crave daily if fail another save, resist 7 days in a row or cure disease magic

2 Diarrhoea – save or explosive intestines for a d4 hours, lose 1hp per hour, half move

3 Sleep – save or sleep for a d4 hours with feverish nightmares

4 Rage – easily enraged, next d4 hours into a berserk killing frenzy in combat if they fail a save

5 Blind – save or lose vision for a d5 hours

6 Hairy – hair grows longer, even body hair, 1 in 6 changes hair colour also

7 Pain – save or in pain for d4 hours -2 on all dice rolls (some monsters like it)

8 Sick –Ā save or vomiting a d4 hours, lose 1hp per hour, half move

9 Diseased – save or inflicted with a disease – typically lose a d3 attribute points for d4 days

10 Poison – save or lose 2d4 HP after ten minutes

11 Mutation – save or receive minor mutation next day, 1in6 are major mutationsĀ 

12Ā Morphic – Save or polymorphed into another species
