Game Market Spring 2025 Preview Now Live | BoardGameGeek News

The last time I created a convention preview for Tokyo Game Market was May 2019 — six years ago! It feels like a different era…

And yet Game Market is still rolling along, taking place twice a year in the Tokyo area and usually once somewhere else in Japan. Since late 2024, I’ve been in contact with Arclight Games, which owns Game Market, and we worked together on a survey that will ideally better serve the independent Japanese creator who has difficulty navigating the English-dense BoardGameGeek website so that we can (1) get their games into the BGG database and (2) add those games to the Game Market Spring 2025 Preview, which has been live for a little while, but is only now being beefed up.

(If you plan to exhibit at Game Market Spring 2025 and your games are already in the BGG database, ignore the survey and instead email news@boardgamegeek.com with a list of titles, their prices, your booth number, and which days you will exhibit.)

The preview is still modest in terms of listings, with not enough 2D front covers to do a decent preview image, but I’ll do what I can to keep adding listings ahead of Game Market opening on May 17, 2025.

Oh, and next week we’ll launch a UKGE 2025 Preview, with the Origins Game Fair 2025 Preview to follow the week after. Given how U.S. tariffs are impeding the production and delivery of games, I guess the timing is right to focus on a couple of shows outside the United States. Yay?
