Fight for Your Life in Tekken, HELLDIVERS 2, Pixel Tactics, and Dead by Daylight | BoardGameGeek News

▪️ The Tekken video game series debuted in 1994, and over the past thirty years publisher Namco Bandai Games has released multiple new editions and spin-off titles, with the most recent being Tekken 8 in 2024.
Łukasz Woźniak, who previously designed The Witcher: Old World, is partnering with Polish publisher Go On to create TEKKEN: The Board Game, which they’ll attempt to crowdfund in 2025 for release in 2026:
A unique card-driven duel system ensures that every character retains their signature playstyle, while custom decks, combos, heat, and the “rage moves” system add layers of tactical depth, challenging you to manage your hand of cards to move across the board, attack your enemy, and ensure they can’t anticipate your next move. Combine cards in the correct order to create an epic combo, activate your special moves, and use the stage special rules like wall break, floor break, and wall blast to your advantage.
The base mode works for 1-2 players, but the game also has a tournament mode for 1-8 players.
▪️ Another video game to tabletop transformation comes from designers Derek Funkhouser, Mat Hart, Jamie Perkins, and Nicholas Yu and publisher Steamforged Games, who have made HELLDIVERS 2: Omens of Tyranny into HELLDIVERS 2: The Board Game.
Pity to lose the ominous “Omens of Tyranny” for the less spicy “The Board Game”, but such as the way of adaptations. Less comprehensible is the game title being listed as “HELLDIVERS 2” when the cover is “HELLDIVERS II”, but Sony does the same thing for the HELLDIVERS II HELLDIVERS 2 video game.
In any case, here’s an overview of this 1-4 player game, which is being crowdfunded for a 2026 release:
Helldivers win the game by selecting a mission and completing their objective. While doing so, they collect medals by defeating enemies, completing sub-objectives, and successfully extracting from the warzone, which will determine their overall performance. If a Helldiver falls in glorious battle, another is sent in their place. If they run out of reinforcements or time to complete the mission, the game is lost.
▪️ In late 2025, Dead by Daylight: The Board Game from D. Brad Talton, Jr. of Level 99 Games will receive a fourth expansion, with the Lightbringer Expansion offering four new survivors and three new killers, with the player-survivors trying to use their unique abilities to repair generators while a single player-killer use their unique skills to…not let that happen.
▪️ Speaking of Level 99 Games, in Q2 2025 it plans to crowdfund Brad Talton’s Super Pixel Tactics, which will collect all five Pixel Tactics standalone games into a single package that also includes “new, previously limited, and exclusive cards”, giving players hundreds of card options. For those not familiar with this two-player fighting game, here’s an overview:
In the game, players take turns placing cards and attacking. Each card can activate in various ways, taking on offensive capabilities in the front rows of the unit, or support powers in the back rows. Cards can also be played as orders – powerful one-time effects that can turn the tide of battle.
Play continues until either player’s leader is defeated. A typical game is best of three or five rounds.
