Whippoorwill Willowrose, Earthkine Genealogist (A to Z, W)

Back to the Sea of Stars and one of the major, though declining, kindreds.  The Earthkine were once nigh immortal, before the Gods War and the Sundering, now, they are only exceedingly long-lived.

Quote: Oh, you are one of the Northern Vinewardens!  It was your blond hair they threw me, most of you line are more wood-colored.

Description: Whippoorwill, she goes by Wil, is a classic Earthkine woman, tall and willowy, with dark blond hair tinged with rose at the tips, her eyes are a dark green-brown, and her pale skin has a slight green tint to it.  She wears her hair long, unbound, it falls to the ground, but she braids and coils it.

She prefers to wear practical clothes and carry her satchel filled with notebooks, pens, and scribbled notes.   She is uncomfortable in situations where she cannot make notes.

Wil is inquisitive, always asking questions, trying to learn and construct family trees for everyone she meets.  She is fascinated by all family arrangements and how children and parents interact.  Wil‘s Lack is the ability to let anything go, once she learns about a family, she is compelled to try and complete that family tree.

Background: Wil was born in one of the Earthkin heartlands and quickly her Lack manifested, so her parents tried to find a way to channel that obsessive focus.  So she ended up as the assistant to the Royal Genealogist who helped to shape her Lack into something useful.  But her life now revolves around tracing genealogies and family trees.

Having exhausted the Royal Archives and local memory, she has set off to visit all of the other Earthkine lands and create a Grand Genealogy of the Earthkine people.  While long-lived, she is not sure if she will live long enough to see it completed.

Presenting this Character: Wil seems like an entirely normal Earthkine scholar, until someone mentions family or relatives, and then she need to know everything about them for her records.  No scrap of information in those topics are too small for her.

Apart from that one quirk, she is charming and well read, with interesting stories of her travels and the history of the Earthkine.

What can she do?: There is no greater scholar of genaeology, especially Earthkine genaeology, in the Sea of Stars.  Amazingly, she can track this ever-expanding constellation of knowledge in her head but she is also constantly writing it down for the knowledge has to be shared and preserved.

She mastered every Earthkine dialect she has come across and reads all of them as well as several nearly extinct variants.  She has learned a variety of other languages as well in her quest for genealogical knowledge,

Who might know her and why:  Any of the Earthkine could have met Wil on her quest for family knowledge.  Perhaps this happened when they were young and Wil will still seem the same from their memories.

Wil has had many lovers and no small number of children in her travels, Earthkine women remain fertile throughout their lifetimes but rarely have more than a few children.  She has always left these children, along with a detailed genealogy, with their father’s family.  Perhaps you are one of them or one of your siblings is.

Plot Hooks: If you need information on an ancient Earthkine ruler, perhaps to enter their tomb, Wil is the person who will have those stories.

Notes: Earthkine with an obsession, not that uncommon.
